Film Independent has received a two-year grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to establish a new Sloan Producers Grant as part of the organization’s Producers Lab. The first grant recipient, who will be selected this Fall, will receive admission to Film Independent’s 2007 Producers Lab, a $25,000 development grant, and year-round support from Film Independent.
The grant is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, which seeks to create and develop new scripts and films about science and technology and to see them into commercial production with national and international distribution. It has screenplay development programs with the Tribeca, Sundance and Hamptons Film Festivals, as well as other select independent partners and film schools.
Submissions are now being accepted. The deadline is August 28, 2007, and eligibility requirements can be found at www.filmindependent.org.
Film Independent’s Producers Lab began in 2001. Sponsored by Technicolor, it is designed to help producers working in independent film improve their craft and to help them develop strategies for getting their current films made.
