Through a partnership with Argot Pictures and Brightcove, Real Girls Media has launched an independent film channel on DivineCaroline.com, the place where women come together to express themselves, find answers and share life through storytelling. Launching with the Oscar winning title My Country My Country, powerful documentaries and ideological films like On the Downlow, The Business of Being Born and The War Tapes all build on women’s passions for thought provoking independent films.
Divine Lens is an online film series dedicated to promoting the work of female documentary filmmakers. Divine Lens will feature films along with director’s interviews, excerpts and trailers. Through Divine Lens, users can contribute their thoughts on each film and engage with their peers about topics they find significant.
According to a recent study by eMarketer, women who are active online are more likely to watch movie previews over amateur videos or music videos1 and Divine Lens acts as a filter, directing focus to the very best documentary work out there today. All films endorsed by Divine Lens are produced by female filmmakers or are independent films that focus on women’s issues.
The curator of Divine Lens is Jim Browne of Argot Pictures, a distribution/production agency specializing in theatrical releases for independent films. Jim has been programming and producing film and video projects in New York City for the past eighteen years and is also the associate programmer for the Tribeca Film Festival.
