Hungry for fame? For the first time, Heinz is spinning the bottle on consumers and giving them a chance to create their own TV commercials that celebrate their love affair with the thick, rich taste of America?s favorite ketchup. One grand prize winner will receive $57,000 and a well-earned place in the 130-year history of a bona fide cultural icon, when the winning commercial airs on national TV in September.
Consumers may submit their 30-second TV commercials on TopThisTV.com, powered by YouTube, now through August 6. A panel of judges will narrow down the entries to 15, which will be revealed on TopThisTV.com in late August, when Americans will have a chance to vote online for their favorite spot. Additionally, four runner-up ads will air on national TV and the creators will each receive $5,700.
Between April and September, the contest will be promoted on more than 57 million bottles of Ketchup sold in retail stores and 200 million Ketchup packets distributed at foodservice nationwide. This is the first Heinz? Ketchup campaign to be promoted on the front and back labels of Heinz? bottles and promoted on both consumer and foodservice products. The promotional bottles will appear on shelf in late April and feature such witty messages as, ?Starving for the Spotlight?? and ?Want a Taste of Showbiz??
