WGBH's Open Call: 6:55 Shorts is a competition which gives independent video producers a chance for funding and to gain exposure with a wider audience than ever before.
Successful applicants will receive financial and editorial support from WGBH, input during the production process from renowned media makers and a place to showcase their work.
Details and entry information can be found at www.wgbh.org/producingfortv. Deadline for submission is May 26, 2006.
"Forward-thinking movie studios are beginning to experiment with content distribution via the Internet, and so are independent producers," said Denise DiIanni, Executive in Charge of WGBH's Boston Media Productions. "So far, all the entries we've received have been sent using the secure uploading submission process from Open Media Network. The new technology enables us to extend the Open Call as widely as possible. We hope independent media makers across the country will join us in building the public media of the future."
Open Media Network is already providing its free services to PBS affiliates, schools, and non profit institutions. OMN lets content producers and viewers upload, tag and distributes legal content to the online mainstream audience in addition to helping partners host video on their own sites using OMN technology.
