The Northern California Underwater Photographic Society will present a special seminar, "Turn your best underwater footage and passion into a film," on Friday, May 12, 2006, presented by San Francisco-based documentary film production company, Friday's Films.
Friday's Films has been making documentaries for three years on a variety of international ecological topics. The majority of their films have been locally focused; all have aired on public television and have been used as an effective awareness piece for pressing international environmental issues.
There are a lot of documentaries getting made these days, but how can you turn your jaw dropping footage into the next documentary everyone will talk about? What would it take to make your best footage into a documentary that gets on television? What equipment do you need? What skills do you lack? Where do you start? Bring your ideas, enthusiasm, passion and questions in order to find out how to light a fire under your passion.
Friday's Films was formed by Tim Kelly and Perry Pickert in 2003 to tell the unique story of the fishermen of The Bahamas in "Hanging in The Balance: The Future of Fishing in The Bahamas." This film aired on national television in The Bahamas, and sparked a variety of other productions across the Pacific, Asia, North America, and the Caribbean. Friday's Films is currently based out of a production studio in San Francisco's Marina district and provides production services for every step of the media making process from conception and storyboarding to final DVD design and production.
The "Turn your best underwater footage and passion into a film," seminar will take place on Friday, May 12, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. Location: New Vision United Methodist Church, 450 Chadbourne Avenue, Millbrae, CA 94030 - located only ten minutes south of the San Francisco International Airport. Cost for first-time visitors is FREE.
NCUPS has been active since 1965, sponsoring educational events on both underwater photography and video while promoting awareness of the underwater environment and pertinent ecological issues.
